YSL La Laque Couture Spicy Spring Collection 2014

YSL La Laque Couture Spicy Spring Collection 2014

Spotted in my local Boots yesterday. Nice – if slightly 80s – colours. Probably a pass for me. Apols for wonky photo. Husband took it under duress!

Review – Dior Vernis No. 382 Destin

Yum yum yum.  I’m a little in love with Dior’s Autumn-Winter Metallics Collection.  I have bought the Bonne Etoile palette, and used it, but like a div I forgot to swatch it.  I’ll make up for that shortly!

Today I want to show you the fab nail polish that is Destin.  I would describe this as a metallic lavender that has a discernible warm-leaning mauve/beige cast in certain lights.Nails2

This is slightly frosty, and if you are not careful, you will get visible brush strokes.  However, as frosts go, I think the brush strokes are minimal, undoubtedly due to the flat tapered brush.

Application was a breeze – one coat nearly does it, and two is nice and plush.

The photos today are after 5 days wear – the light is beginning to get pretty crappy and today was the first day bright enough to capture it.  So, as you can see, it wears well.  Apart from on the corner of my thumbnail that always chips.  Gah.

As I mentioned in my last post, this is selling out fast.  Two counters that I visited had already sold out, despite them only hitting the shops in the UK last week.

Are you tempted by Destin?  Or do you have fear of the frost?

Review – YSL La Laque Couture No. 36 Vert D’Orient

I’m currently making the most of the last of the summer light (I swear I can now smell autumn in the air), and so am also making the most of wearing vibrant summer hues before they look all discombobulating and plain ole wrong!

Last week* I wore YSL’s Vert D’Orient on my nails, which I think is limited for Summer 2013.  Isn’t it gorgeous?  A bright, yet simultaneously muted, jade green.

I love YSL’s packaging.  It has such a luxe feel with the fab metal cap and its satisfying *click*.

And here it is on the nails.  I used a flash here, but have corrected it to a pretty true likeness.  (Like I say, the light is changing – soon we’re going to be plunged into darkness!)Nails3

Yum.  Stellar formula and YSL’s flat brush makes application a breeze.

I’m kind of mourning the imminent end of summer.  This has been the first where I have not felt too hot and bothered because (TMI) I have lost so much weight from my chest, he he.  I’ve enjoyed the warmth on my arms, wearing little summer dresses (i.e. my usual black or grey dresses sans tights) and having brightly coloured nails.  Chanel Lilis in particular.

What will you miss from this summer’s fashion and beauty trends?

* I wanted to post this sooner, but I managed to delete  my entire iPhoto library, and had to endure the hell of a shopping centre today – on a Bank Holiday weekend – to get my iMac (yup, the whole massive thing) to the Apple store to be fixed.  Shudder.  It was bloody awful!

Chanel Superstition Collection Le Vernis – Mysterious and Alchimie

I got to see the Chanel Superstition Collection in full on its release date in the Coven Garden Chanel store, and was thrilled!  Sadly, my husband was less than thrilled with my intention to fritter so much money, so I had to pass it by…

…Until today, ha ha!  I’ve ummed and ahhed about what to get.  I really liked the eyeliner, but just cannot justify dropping £19 for around 4cm of product (seriously, twist one up fully next time you are at the counter and prepare to have your flabber ghasted!); and whilst Gri Gri is a gorgeous shade of eyeshadow, £23 seems a lot for a single that has received a relatively poor review from the oracle that is Temptalia.

So, I settled for two of the nail colours instead – Mysterious and Alchemie.  Aren’t they just fabulous?

They complement each other so well!IMG_2551

I cannot wait to try them, and just *know* that they will look fab with some of my recent autumn purchases, such as this Whistles dress and this NW3 dress.

Yum yum.  One more shot for the road?  Ok!
